1970's style dominated the spring collections. Our resident fashion expert, Lauren Goodman, tells us how the top trends stack up in San Francisco.
1. Cut-Outs. The season's hottest fabric reminds us of mesh, perforated to perfection. Super chic in leather and suede. LG says: The new sexy.
2. Evening Midriff. Who needs a gown when you have a svelte crop top and a gorgeous skirt? This look is blowing up the red carpet. LG says: Rock your body.
3. Botanicals. Florals of a modern species are in bloom this psring. Marni and Celine cultivated some particularly stunning varietals. LG says: Looking fresh, girl!
4. Suede. Suede for spring is a very new look (that is to say old—circa 1970s). Extra points for made-in-the-suede dresses, T-shirts, and head-to-toe looks. LG says: Soft focus.
5. Military. Fatigues, parachute silk, camoflage, khaki of all shades, utility pockets. So protest-chic. LG says: Attennn-tion!
6. Sandal Boots. The knee-high gladiator sandal was totally ubiquitous on the runways. Not the easiest look in our oft-chilly clime, but it will majorly up your game. LG says: The statement shoe.
7. Festival Girl. Hippies forever—even for high evening. Make love with lots of texture, knit vests, trippy prints, patchwork, tie-dye, and eyelet. Dries Van Noten staged a sit-in. LG says: Naturally.
